Oxnard City Corps

City Corps, a program through the City of Oxnard Recreation Department, exposes youth ages 12-24 to experiential learning and hands-on training through a variety of projects and activities, such as multimedia projects, work and service learning publications, and activities in partnership with other city programs and community organizations. Each City Corps project works as a vocational exploration and introduces young people to the world of work and personal responsibility.

El Concilio Family Services

Youth for Success is a youth development program for at-risk-youth ages 13-21 years and their parents /legal guardians.  The program offers workshops in youth leadership & personal growth, teen pregnancy prevention at area high schools and collaborating agencies and self-expression through the arts. Through these workshops El Concilio promotes responsible behavior, higher education, a reduction in teen pregnancy, a reduction rate of the drop-out rate among high school teens, raise self-esteem and strengthen communication skills between parents and their children. Last year El Concilio served 1099 youth in our Youth for Success Programs.

El Centrito Family Learning Centers

El Centrito Family Learning Center is a bilingual community center located in the Mexican American community of Oxnard, California with service sites in La Colonia community and downtown Oxnard. El Centrito serves youth and families, especially youth at risk of low academic achievement.  El Centrito’s mission is to prepare the youth and families of Ventura County to meet the future and become productive members of the community by providing bilingual, bicultural family and youth eductional programs in partnership with parents, schools, and neighborhoods.

El Centrito was founded in 1992, and is currently celebrating thirteen years of service. Their goal is to help youth acquire the tools and skills that will assist them in their educational development, and help prepare them for today’s complex society and working world.

Drag Racing Against Gangs and Graffiti (DRAGG)

Dragg is a program in the city of Oxnard where Police Officers, along with people from the automotive industry, help reach out to the youth of today. DRAGG provides a viable alternative in the automotive industry and helps guide and mentor youth.  DRAGG’s goal is to keep the youth focused on the future with trained and experienced individuals in the automotive industry and in partnership with the Police Department.

This unique outreach to young people who have an interest in the automotive industry provides an environment that is free of the influences of gangs and other negative behaviors.
